Commonwealth Games 2018 Tickets
The Ticket Request Phase for the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games is only open until 11.59pm AEST Monday, 22 May. The action will be world class so let’s make sure the atmosphere is electric for the athletes.
Wrestling will be held at the brand new Gold Coast Sports and Leisure Centre over three days with tickets only $20 for adults and $10 for children.
Now’s the time to decide whether you want to be there to witness greatness or wait and risk missing out. Submit your ticket requests today at www.gc2018.com/tickets
At the conclusion of the ticket request phase, all unsold tickets will be released for sale on a first come, first served basis.

Olympic Champion Erica Wiebe at Lang Park PCYC
The Lang Park PCYC Wrestling Club was honoured to have Rio 2016 and Glasgow 2014 gold medallist Erica Wiebe pay a visit and run a training session. Erica was in Brisbane to promote the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games.

2017 Australia Cup for cadets, juniors and seniors
Nominations are open for 2017 Australia Cup, Sunday 4th of June in Craigieburn Victoria. Nominations will close Friday May 27th and must be made through Wrestling Queensland Inc.
This is a Commonwealth selection event for senior Male and Female Freestyle. There will also be Freestyle divisions for Males and Females in Cadet and Junior age category as well as Senior Male Greco-Roman. All events will run on a single day (Sunday 4th June) with weighins Saturday 3rd June.
This is an open competition, Australian citizenship is not required, however nominees must be current financial members Wrestling Queensland Inc.

2017 Down Under Sports Wrestling
Downunder Sports Wrestling returns July 15th and 16th at Carrara Sports and Leisure Centre.
This is a Freestyle competition for male competitors aged between 14 and 19 years at the time of the competition. Australian competitors will need to be current financial members of Wrestling Queensland Inc or their respective state organisation.
Nomination forms and more details will be available soon.
Junior USA weight classes will apply (in kilos):

ABC News at Lang Park PCYC Wrestling
ABC News were in attendance for the Freestyle class at Lang Park PCYC filming a segment on aspiring 2018 Commonwealth Games athletes and Wrestling in the host state of Queensland.
There are no details at the time of writing on when the program will be featured or if it will be available online. We will update when it is known.

Crow’s Nest Wrestling at Lang Park PCYC
Junior Wrestlers from Crow’s Nest made the 4 hour round trip to Brisbane over the weekend for a training session at Lang Park PCYC.
It’s great to see grassroots junior Wrestling in regional Queensland with coaches, parents and local businesses giving their support.

2016 National Veterans and NSW Open
Nominations are open for 2016 National Veterans Championship and NSW Open for Cadets, Juniors and Seniors. Freestyle and Greco-Roman, Males and Females.
Event will be running Saturday December 3rd at Sydney University (weigh-in Friday 2nd of December).
Nominations must be made through Wrestling Queensland Inc. Do not contact Wrestling Australia or Wrestling NSW directly. Entrants must be current financial members of Wrestling Queensland Inc. Nominations close 27th of November.

Recognition for WQ Inc Wrestler
WQ Inc would like to congratulate 61kg Freestyle Wrestler Tom Cicchini on his commendation from QUT.
In this calendar year, Tom has competed in the Australian National Championship, Oceania Championship in Hamilton NZ and was part of the Australian squad for the Commonwealth Junior Championship in Calgary Canada. All while studying full time, working and donating time to assist with the school-aged Wrestling classes at Lang Park PCYC.

Since emigrating in 1997, Yuri with over 50 years in the sport of Wrestling has been kind enough to generously dedicate his time to growing the sport and passing on his knowledge to the Wrestling community in Queensland.
We cannot thank Yuri enough for his efforts and we are very privileged to have someone with world class Wrestling credentials right here in Brisbane.
